In 1996 I enrolled my six year old son in a martial arts program. The motivation at the time was no more than exposing him to different sports. As with most parents, I wanted to keep him active and involved with other children. Little did I know the additional benefit that he would incur over the next four years.

My wife and I had realized a need for our son to develop more self control and the ability to focus (as with most 6 year old youths). This karate program gave him realistic goals and the expectation to achieve them. Over the years he learned to structure his time to maintain honor roll in school, play with his friends and attend Karate class because all of this was important to him. Eventually, he achieved his Black Belt and at age eleven he has a tremendous self-image.

I started Ultimate Karate Academy because as a parent I have seen the benefits of a martial arts program designed for children. I have formed a partnership with one of the best martial arts instructors in the Richmond area, Mr. Erick Easter, a third-degree Black Belt in American Free Style Karate. But more importantly, he has an understanding and the experience of working with children.

Mr. Easter shares my desire to offer parents a quality program designed for the developing child. He has witnessed the success story of hundreds of kids like mine. Together you have our commitment to look at your child from the eyes of a parent and the eyes of a teacher to prepare your child for future achievement.

ª  To offer every student an aggressive physical and mental challenge.

ª  To provide the tools and encouragement to meet that challenge.

ª  To instill confidence to our students by teaching the highest quality martial arts.

ª  To provide an exciting and safe facility in which to learn.

I knew from an early age that I had something to offer as a teacher of martial arts. I began my martial arts training at the age of twelve years of age. I began student teaching two years later. After receiving my black belt, I have studied many different styles of karate.

My education in this field has gone beyond the physical achievement. I have learned the value of young children's setting realistic goals and then providing them with the tools and encouragement to achieve them. My most valuable education has been years of parental feedback regarding their children's accomplishments.

At Ultimate Karate Academy we welcome the opportunity to share with you a program designed to assist your child in goal setting, learning respect for themselves and others, practicing self-control, focus, and a positive self-image.
